OUGD603. Extended Practice. TKB LOGO DESIGN. Development and Outcome.

having had the initial discussion with tom i went on to do some hand rendered preliminary designs to map out better what i had in my head.

i went on to mark the designs i thought were the strongest with x's and then proceeded to develop them digitally.

i created a dual variation of each one and came to this point:

in my opinion the third from the left worked the best in line with the brief but i knew i wasnt there yet. i decided to send the work so far to the client and see what he thought. he replied:

Nice, I am keener on an icon with not so scripty writing. I was having a look at these the other day an I'm pretty keen

i informed him that none of the above logos were at all script like and so he sent me some visuals he was interested in:

these aesthetic were different to what id had in mind based on what the client had asked of me however i proceeded to develop the logos more in line with this style.

i then went on to develop the logo ideas digitally -

i sent these over to the client and he considered his reaction -

I like! Would you be able to make the top left outer circle looks more like a brush stroke ??

i considered his needs and went back to the design to consider how to make it more in line with what he demanded.

i used the pucker and warp tools to make the circle less perfect in line with his demands.

i also tried to apply some textures to the outer circle for a different visual effect that might add another aspect to the logo. i considered the logos use and that it might often be used monochromatically and so used noticeable textures that would still show up with colour variation.
the client expressed his enthusiasm with the first of the above 3 stating that he didnt really like the brush effects which was completely fair enough. i decided that i would rework the outer circle to make it look more in line with the inner ring and less bubbly.

having shown him this and the colour variations he was very happy and accepted that as the final design he would use. i sent him over the illustrator file along with a PNG copy.
