we began by listening to the 'duga-3' mix by evian christ.
having gained a familiarity with the music we then went on to look into what dug-3 meant.
Duga-3 Russian: Дуга-3 (NATO reporting name Steel Yard) was a Soviet over-the-horizon (OTH) radar system used as part of the Soviet ABM early-warning network.
They appeared without warning, sounding like a sharp, repetitive tapping noise at 10 Hz,[1] which led to it being nicknamed the Russian Woodpecker.
The signal became such a nuisance that some receivers such as amateur radios and televisions actually began including 'Woodpecker Blankers' in their design.
after speaking to ryan and mark we also found out that the mix featured the duga-3 'woodpecker' tapping four times throughout; signifying and separating the four parts to the mix. we found this really interesting as it explained the inclusion of the sound but also more about the mix itself.
we went on to collect some images for influence:
having completed the brief we found the actual cover designed by dr.me:
brief 2.
we began by listening to a bit of the music to get an understanding of the genre.
we looked at kraak gallery:
