i really had a lot of fun with this competition as it was a light hearted and creatively free brief that i was able to engage with constructively and without constraint. i think the designs i produced are appropriate to the venue and the aims of the brief and with any luck should help attract the desired audience.
i managed to complete this brief in just a few hours and so am happy that my design skills and turn around speed has improved. i was able to explore and develop my understanding of colour and appropriation of colour schemes and their use is extending a flat design.
i was able to develop my illustrator skills which is always useful and is something that i have been engaging with a lot this year. i was also able to improve my illustration skills and practice the pattern featured in one of the designs.
if doing this brief again i would likely work of the type piece a bit more as some of the letters are still a bit illegible at first look however this is a minor improvement and may even work better in the setting as the viewer would be further attracted to the mat by making a greater effort to read it and then get the joke and be amused from it.
