when it cam time to design the third night however i was available and ready to develop the promotional identity of the event fuerther. leo had developed the promotional identity considerably since the first one and it had imporved greatly in terms of professionalism and aesthetic quality in line with the nights ethos and aims.
a quick point of reference of his development:
because we had decided to use the same illsutration for the second night i decided that it was time to produce a new totem pole illustration. i used grid paper to develop the initial sketch and then used tracing paper to go over the image with fine liner for the final line drawing ready for digitising
i then went into illsutrator and used the live trace tool to establish the initial vector outline. from that i developed the line weight in order for it to stand out more so when applied to the flyer design.
having produced the illsutration ready for the flyer it was then a case of developing the layout and type setting ready for print. i took the gradient and background pattern from the facebook page leo had designed then i explored and developed the type and layout of my own accord.
i started by developing just the type setting so that this was in order when applying the gradient and pattern background.
having established the type layout it was then a case of developing the gradient from screen to work for print. this took a lot of trial and error with test prints to get right however it was worth it to come to the best outcome.
the test prints:
we showed the client the final ideas and we then all agreed on the final outcomes we weould send to print. this can be found on a separate post marked outcome.
