Unfortuantely i do think i won because i havent yet recieved a reply past the notification of reception of submission. i am not, however, dissuaded by this. partially because goodtype have a massive global following (202k followers on instagram alone) and so will have had thousands of submissions, but also because i got a lot out of this brief personally.
the word formalities has become a word i really like to explore typographically and bfore this piece i had not had the chance to do so in such a formal and extended manor. my skills with hand rendered typography have improved greatly as a result of this brief and so has my confidence in my free hand rendered and stroke abilities.
my understanding of the grid and type setting has also improved greatly as i had to consider the letters in line with each other and as a whole working piece. i had to rework the grid a couple of times for a better flow and so understand how to approach a type piece better now.
i think in order to develop this piece further and make it more noticeable and stand out from the crowd i would next develop an illustrative border and extra features to bring the main type piece moff the page more.
overall i am really happy with the outcome and do not mind that i did not win because i gaimned a lot of valuable developmental experience.
