OUGD603. Extended Practice. PTSPD Yearbook: Brief Acceptance

having not won the competition to design the yearbook + end of year show for BAGD, me, danielle, and jordan agreed that we would instead accept the brief to design the Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design Yearbook.

me and jordan where on an exhibition visit to london at the time of the initial meeting, however, danielle was able to attend and so she took notes for us and we went over them when we returned.

Avoid: Laura Ashley Floral Feminine Glorified business cards They are more than this
They refer to themselves as tribes Have a pack mentality, a community They are very proud of their course They are protective of their space - don’t like strangers in it
The book needs to sell the space, the hard work ethic and the course itself rather than the people - the people will sell themselves. It needs to show the course as a collective, rather than individuals. Identity as a course/team

since i know a few students on the course i was familiar with the fact that the work they produce is broad and highly varied in style, aesthetic, production, material and many more. it is therefore important that we make the effort to encompass the course as a whole while maintaining the individualism that exists.
