OUGD603. Extended Practice. BOGSAT LOGO DESIGN. Fyler and Facebook Banner Design

further to my logo design the client indicated that he would like me to design two more things: a facebook banner for his page advertising and bringing together the bogsat community, and a flyer design intended for both digital and printed use.

i was happy to take these jobs on also and got to the development right away.

i began by developing the facebook banner in line with the concept of the project and the logo i had developed. i wanted to create some sort of complementary contrast bringing in the ideas of mis communication and mis information in media and politics and so i produced 3 variations of a facebook banner with consideration to layout and format -

i decided to include a border to excentuate the logo name and added a translation below as a secondary introduction

i played around with opacities to develop a 'screen' effect' that in a way masked the logo and events such as can be seen in popular media and political assocation with big business.

i then explored possible background textures using various high quality paper textures to give the effect of social activism and protest, working in line with picket boards and protest signs one might see at such physical events.

below are the final 3 choices i presented to the client, all of which he was happy with. he indicated that he liked the first one the best and thought that the concept of picket boards and media masking were strong and pertinent to the events causes and intents.

he stated that he did not want the translation below partially for simplicity and partially to maintain a certain myserty around the logo and events. so i produced this final concept.

i then went on to develop some banner ideas using the latest topiuc as an example for what the content on the flyers might look like.

i began by laying out and ordering the basic text content onto the indesign dpoccument.

then i played around with masks and textures some more in an attempt for the flyer to work more in line with the facebook banner. i used a stencil at a low opacity to give the effect of masking and overlaying.

this design was an attempt to present an intenitonally garish and in your face design, mimicking a lot of political party advertising which does not hold back on shameless advertisment tactics.

i then tried toning down that concept to a more suble format that might hint such aesthetic content.

i then went on to completely tone down anmd dull the whole aesthewtic content and simplify the format of the flyer as a contrast top the above \and to see whether this was stronger

finally i explored the concept of activism and political speech through visual aids and in an attempt to communicate the aims and intents of the events hewld.

the final outcomes -

the final chosen design -

the client was happy with the outcomes and so i sent him over the content in the correct useable and editable forms so that he could apply them to the necessary media.
