OUGD603. Extended Practice. Nicola Toon Designs Script Logo. Development and Outcome.

having spoken to nicola and having written the brief for the project (seen in a separate post) i went on to do some visual exploration of the sorts of things she was after.



DEVELOPMENT -


i began with freehand fineliner explorations of the name plus 'Designs' in order to establish a basis from which to continue.

i then went on to develop a design that i thought was strong to a higher and more professional level. i developed the type digitally also and was then informed that she would like an 's' on the end of design so that it would infer multiple.

we then spoke about what she liked and while being really positive about the above design i could tell that it was not exactly what she wanted. we spoke about the aesthetics of the script she desired and i realised that weight was an important consideration and so was flow, because she wanted a single line logo.

i revisited the sketch book and developed a design that i was really happy with. i showed it to nicola and she was much more positive about this one so i proceeded to digitally render it ready for her use.

 OUTCOME -

i sent it over in pdf, png, and illustrator format so she had the freedom to do as she wished with it. she immediately applied it to her business cards which came out really well.
