this was a relatively straight forward brief that didnt require any prior research mainly due to the fact that i know the client personally but also because i feel like i have developed my typographic style enough to be able to go straight into developmental work. she had seen my work before and selected the sort of type she was after and so it was a simple case of developing a specific outcome that worked for her.
i think that i could have done some more developmental work into the curviture of the lettering, in particular the double 'o' in the 'toon' but i was happy with the structure and weighting of the piece overall. i think the sizing worked well through the design and ran cleanly along a single line.
my observational skills came into play well with this brief as the client, although generally happy with the first outcome, was too polite to criticise so i realised that it was up to me to prompt her to be more critical and specific with her desires. i wanted the piece to be as good as she wanted it to be and so this was an important point in the progress of the piece.
having understood her desires more specifically i feel as though i was able to more appropriately visualise the aesthetics she was after and was, therefore better equipped to produce the physical outcome. the digital rendering was simple enough and i was easily able to maintain the stroke and weight quality and specifics of the design.
the client was very happy with the outcome and so it can be seen as a successfully completed brief. next time i will spend more time developing the curves to a higher standard and consider more how the client voices, or doesnt voice, their needs for the design.
